So apparently our school is doing something with Autism Speaks in April. I blurted “Autism Speaks is super terrible” and got stares.

I would like to make sure my school isn’t accidentally doing something super terrible. Dear Tumblr, can you help me find some links explaining the extreme terribleness of Autism Speaks?

Apparently there are no links in asks. WTF is that?

This is just good info for other people too.

Autism Speaks has, for years, been funneling money into trying to connect vaccines with autism, even as they state on their webpage that it is not their goal. A few years ago, they had a number of high-profile resignations because of this.

Good information. A few parts of Autism Speaks have good intentions, but they are most definitely not the most pious or ethical groups.

They also don’t allow people on the spectrum on their top board, and if I recall correctly, have been looking to “cure” Autism.

It’s not an Autism support group- it’s an Autism let’s-get-rid-of-it group.
