Went to pick some kids up to their homerooms today, and one classroom had hand-made vocabulary posters up on the door, with initial consonant clusters and words that started with them.
One was “SW-,” and the first word was “SWAG.” The second word was “SWAGGER.”
I am not very sure if the 1st grade teacher knows what swag means in the contemporary sense…. Or maybe she just has SWAG.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the issues we go through during testing that are expressed in this scene?
This is what i feel like doing sometimes when my students don’t listen to me.
I AM MOVING TO SWITZERLAND.
Where a small soda is $7 and a Burger King sandwich is $13.
BUT STILL.

A grade 10 student has asked me to help him study for his biology test.
Me: “Um, no.”
Me: “The excretory system helps you…”…
Her: “Get it out.”
Me: “Um, okay. And the reproductive system helps you…”…
Her: “Get it in.”
